Ascend Technology Group Wins 2026 Business Excellence Award from the Greater Omaha Chamber

We’re proud to share that Ascend Technology Group has been named a 2026 Business Excellence Award winner by the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce in the Excellence in Innovation category. It’s an honor we don’t take lightly, and one we’re celebrating alongside the clients and community that made it possible.

This year also marks our 21st year in business. Two decades of showing up, figuring it out, and evolving alongside the businesses we serve. That combination, the award and the milestone, feels like a good moment to reflect on how we got here and where we’re headed.

We Started Small. We Stayed Local. We Kept Growing.

Ascend opened its doors in 2005 as a traditional break-fix IT shop in Omaha. When something broke, we fixed it. That was the model. But the needs of small and mid-sized businesses were changing fast, and we changed with them.

As small business servers became the norm in the early 2000s, we made the move to managed IT services, shifting from reactive support to proactive, ongoing care for our clients’ entire technology environment. That shift changed everything about how we operate and how we think about our role.

When cybercrime surged around 2018, we didn’t wait for our clients to get hit before we took it seriously. We made a deliberate investment in cybersecurity tools, training, and processes that had previously only been accessible to larger enterprises. We brought that same level of protection to the small businesses and nonprofits that needed it most but rarely had access to it.

By 2020, the shift to cloud was in full swing. We helped our clients migrate safely to Microsoft 365 and modern cloud platforms, making sure the transition was smooth and their data stayed protected the whole way through.

Today, the conversation has shifted again. Artificial intelligence is no longer something on the horizon. It’s here, and our clients are asking real questions about how to use it safely and productively. We’re focused on helping local businesses integrate AI into their daily operations in ways that actually make sense for them, without exposing sensitive data or creating new risk.

What 21 Years Looks Like

We’re a team of 18 people serving over 150 organizations across 15 states. Most of our clients are right here in the greater Omaha area. Some are across the country. All of them get the same thing: a dedicated team that knows their business, answers when they call, and doesn’t disappear after the contract is signed.

We’ve worked with small businesses, nonprofits, healthcare organizations, financial firms, and everything in between. The industries change. The commitment doesn’t.

What keeps us grounded is pretty simple: we’re an Omaha company. We live here, our clients are here, and we take seriously what it means to be a trusted partner in this community. That’s not marketing language. It’s how we’ve operated since day one.

What This Award Means to Us

The Greater Omaha Chamber’s Business Excellence Award recognizes companies that demonstrate meaningful innovation and a real commitment to the businesses and community they serve. Being recognized in the Excellence in

Innovation category reflects work our entire team has poured into over the last several years. Innovation, for us, has never meant chasing the newest technology for its own sake. It’s meant staying a step ahead of what our clients are going to face next and making sure they’re not caught flat-footed when the landscape shifts. That mindset is what drove the cybersecurity pivot in 2018, the cloud transition work in 2020, and the AI focus we’re doing now.

We’re proud of this recognition. And we’re proud of the work behind it.

Thank You

To the Greater Omaha Chamber: thank you for creating a platform that celebrates businesses doing meaningful work in this community. To our clients: you’re the reason any of this matters. The trust you place in us to keep your businesses running, secure, and ready for what’s next is something we take seriously every single day.

Here’s to 21 years, and a lot more ahead.
